Can I really get my ducts cleaned for $10.00/vent or $39.95 for a whole house special?
Should my air conditioning unit be maintained regularly also?
Why should I choose a certified NADCA member to clean my system?
From
our own experience, that is a big "NO". You get what
you pay for.
Be very wary of "Blow-N-Go" air duct cleaning companies.
Many of these companies are not licensed, certified or insured.
They use subcontractors, arrive in their personal vehicles and use
small shop-type vacuums.
The risk of using a "too good to be
true" duct cleaner can be disastrous.
Insurance: Without
liability and workers' compensation insurance, you will be
responsible if someone gets hurt in your home.
Equipment: The
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) performed studies that have
found improper cleaning can do more damage to both the air you
breathe and the equipment than if you had left the ducts alone.
If
you have used this type of company, we can help if your duct system
requires additional remediation services after this type of service.
The frequency of cleaning depends on many factors within the building, including the preferences of the home or business owner. These factors can include:
►Renovations/Remodeling
►Flood or water contamination
►Allergies
►Pets
►Smoking
►Moving into a new home
Fiberglass and hogshair filters are the lowest efficiency, retail filters available. Check your filter by holding it up to the daylight - if you can see through it, the smallest particles can pass through. A.D.A. offers Dustlok® filters to residential and commercial customers.
Yes, as you change the oil in your car every 3,000 miles or so, your air conditioning system needs to be checked out regularly. We have found that maintaining your A/C unit twice a year, both before the major heating and cooling systems, can help keep your unit in good condition.
