INSULATION REPLACEMENT

The insulation in the air handler unit prevents the exterior of the cabinet from condensating and reduces the noise from the equipment.  Over time, this insulation can become degraded, releasing fibers into the airstream and through your home or facility.

The replacement of the air conditioning equipment can be rather costly, especially when dealing with larger units, 25 tons and largerer, when other parts of the HVAC unit can be properly maintained and corrected, increasing the life of the equipment.  The existing insulation can be removed, with proper containment controls, and new insulation can be installed.  Closed-cell type insulation (IMCOAź) is recommended as it does not degrade as fast as regular, fiberglass type insulation and is specifically designed for mechanical ductwork and equipment surfaces..

IMCOAź serves a long term benefit in assisting with the management of microbials and bacteria within the HVAC unit.  The closed-cell structure of IMCOAź Sheet insulation effectively retards the flow of moisture vapor and is considered a low transmittance vapor retarder.
