Can I really get my ducts cleaned for $10.00 a vent or $39.95 whole house specials?

From our own experience, that is a big "NO".  Be very wary of "Blow-N-Go" air duct cleaning companies.  These companies are not certified and cannot offer quality service.  They will typically arrive in their own cars and try to clean using nothing more than a vacuum unit very similar to a shopvac.  If you have used this type of company, we can help if your duct system requires additional remediation services after this type of service.

The EPA has, in fact, performed studies that have found improper duct cleaning techniques can do more damage than if you had left the ducts alone in the first place.

How do I know I need to have my air ducts cleaned?

Each home and business is different.  Many factors influence the air inside including the frequency of filter maintenance, component maintenance (evaporator coils, blower motors, pan treatments, etc) and age of the home.

How often should they be cleaned?

The frequency of cleaning depends on many factors within the building, including the preferences of the home or business owner.  These factors can include:

Renovations/Remodeling
Flood or water contamination
Allergies
Pets
Smoking
Moving into a new home

What type of filter should I be using?

Fiberglass and hogshair filters are the lowest efficiency, retail filters available.  Check your filter by holding it up to the daylight - if you can see through it, the smallest particles can pass through.  A.D.A. offers Dustlok® filters to residential and commercial customers.

Should my air conditioning unit be maintained regularly also?

Yes, as you change the oil in your car every 3,000 miles or so, your air conditioning system needs to be checked out regularly.  We have found that maintaining your A/C unit twice a year, both before the major heating and cooling systems, can help keep your unit in good condition.

Why should I choose a certified NADCA member to clean my system?

Certified NADCA members abide by a mandatory code of ethics which states that we shall serve customers with honesty and integrity and uphold the NADCA standards and guidelines.

Certification from NADCA as Air Systems Cleaning Specialists (A.S.C.S.) demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of HVAC remediation practices.  In addition, certification also requires continuing education to stay abreast of developing HVAC technologies and cleaning methods.
